Three ways to split
- Extract pages: tap the pages you want (Shift-click selects a range) or type them, like 1-3, 8, 10-12. Download them as one new PDF.
- Every page: split the PDF into single-page files, delivered as one ZIP.
- Every N pages: split into files of 2, 5, 10 pages or any number, also as a ZIP.
The page previews and the range box stay in sync, so you can mix tapping and typing. Quick buttons select all, odd or even pages.
Removing pages
To delete pages from a PDF, select every page you want to keep and download them. Select all, then tap the pages to remove, is usually quickest.
Private and unlimited
The PDF never leaves your device, there is no daily limit, and large files are fine: page previews are drawn only as you scroll to them. The pages you extract keep their original quality, links and text.
Common uses
- Sending only the signed pages of a contract.
- Splitting a scanned batch of receipts into one file each.
- Pulling one statement out of a year-long PDF.
- Removing blank or duplicate pages.
Password-protected PDFs
Open the PDF with its password in your viewer, save a copy without the password, and split that copy.
What next
Combine pages from several files with Merge PDF, or sign the extracted pages with Fill and sign PDF.
A worked example
A landlord has a 24-page PDF of a signed lease and its schedules, and the tenant only needs the signature pages, 3 and 12 to 14. The landlord opens Split PDF, types “3, 12-14” in the pages box (the matching thumbnails light up), and clicks Download. A four-page PDF named after the lease is saved. Later, the landlord scans a stack of 30 receipts into one PDF and chooses “Every page (ZIP)” to get 30 separate files, one per receipt, ready to attach to expense claims.
Typing page ranges
- 5 selects one page.
- 1-3 selects pages 1, 2 and 3.
- 8- selects page 8 to the end.
- Combine them with commas: 1-3, 8, 10-12.
If a range is not valid, for example a page number beyond the end, the box turns red and a short message explains what to fix.
Tapping pages
Tap a page to select or deselect it. On a computer, hold Shift and click to select every page between your last click and this one. Use Select all, Odd or Even for quick selections, then tap the exceptions.
Splitting into several files
“Every page” creates one PDF per page; “Every N pages” creates files of N pages each, for example every 2 pages for double-sided forms. All files come in one ZIP with clear names such as “lease pages 1-2.pdf”, so you can find the right one.
Why on-device matters
People split documents to share only part of them, often because the rest is private. With SmallKits, the full PDF never leaves your device; only the pages you choose end up in the file you share.
Terms explained
- Range
- A set of pages written like 1-3, 8.
- ZIP
- One download containing several files.
- Extract
- Copy chosen pages into a new PDF, leaving the original unchanged.
- Odd and even
- Quick selections for double-sided scans, where fronts and backs alternate.
Splitting never changes your original file. The pages you extract are copies, so you can split the same PDF as many times as you like.
Splitting on a phone
On a phone, tap pages to select them; the pages box updates as you go. Typing a range is often quicker for long documents. The ZIP file for “Every page” opens in your phone’s Files app, where each PDF can be shared on its own.
Limits
Password-protected PDFs must be unlocked first. Splitting keeps each page exactly as it is, including annotations and form fields.

One more tip
When you only need to share a few pages of a long document, split them out rather than sending the whole file. It protects the rest of the document, and the person receiving it does not have to search for the right page.
